I meant to update a couple weeks ago. Well that didn't go as planned.
Sam had his 6 month appointment and is perfectly healthy. He's still in the 80% for both weight (almost 20lbs!) and head, 70% for height. He did very well at the doctors. He had to get quite a few shots, but the thing he hated most was the oral vaccination. He let loose a tantrum when the nurses tried to get him to drink. But he calmed quickly when they were all finished.
ECFE is going really well. Harrison loves going and playing. He really likes his teacher too. We (the parents) have separated three times now and Harrison has been superb. He tells me other kids get sad, but he doesn't. (Thanks, I feel so needed..)
Last week the building had its first fire drill. All of the kids did great, no one got scared or cried. Harrison just kept saying "really loud noise!"
We talked a bit about the fire drill process in the moms portion of the class. And then also talked about emergency lockdown procedure as well. And that was terrifying. That wasn't even part of my schooling. I could go off on a tirade on how this subject scares me, what I think about gun control (I don't even want Harrison playing with toy gun anything until he can understand the difference), and how the whole subject makes me want to home school. But I won't.
And speaking of school, I've started looking through preschools. There's one really close to us that I'm leaning towards, but there's also the MV school system since most of the others are based in churches. But that doesn't bother me so much.
I've decided we're potty training after October. November is a lot less busy and I think we're just gonna do it. Harrison has the ability, he wants to, he just needs to start. I know. I might be a little too optimistic.
Sam is a roly-poly boy. He can travel and he might actually crawl before 11 months! He's such a happy boy.
I'm so excited for this month. I love October and Halloween and everything spooky. Harrison has been telling everyone "it's Halloween now!" because our decorations are out. The week before Halloween is especially busy.
I'm also getting excited to wear our family Guardians of the Galaxy costumes. Sam is the cutest baby Groot!
I also finally got my new glasses after like 6 weeks.. Target optical- do not recommend. Here's me story:
Initial appt- not the best, wasn't a fan of the dr. The person helping me was pushy and obviously wanted me to leave (also almost overcharged me by adding every extra perk onto the glasses without even asking me. No I don't need the special lenses, normal is fine..). Finally picked a pair of glasses and left anxious and unhappy. 2 weeks later, new glasses, I can barely see, my prescription apparently changed so much, I hate the frames and the first girl helping me was no help. Someone else had to come over and explain the difference in the prescription and that my vision would adjust. After a day, I returned the glasses, they looked awful. Luckily, they do have a nice return policy.
Week and a half, my new glasses are in, but flawed, so they need to reorder the lenses. But it should "only be a few days" After two weeks, I call asking where they are. The girl finds the glasses and isn't sure if they're the old or new ones, she has to check, they have no paperwork with them. I finally get a call saying they're in. So I go pick them up. My glasses had been there THE WHOLE TIME, and they never called me to pick them up or even inspected the new ones. The new ones are flawed too, a bubble in the corner of the lense. So they have to reorder them.. again. But I can wear these ones in the meantime. I will only go back for them to fix the lenses, but I will not be returning to that unorganized hullabaloo. I never even received a "sorry" for the wait or inconvenience. I just want to see!
At least these ones are cute.
Harrison said he wanted to take a picture only if he could hug me. :)
The boys are on opposite nap schedules today. Help!
We're heading to a pumpkin patch this weekend. Hoping to have a good time!
